We've doubled in the number of teams and student athletes for the 5th consecutive year!
2012 Season Is The Biggest Ever!
57 teams representing 100 schools and 1,500 student athletes will be representing the Minnesota State High School Clay Target League for 2012. THANK YOU to all the coaches, gun clubs, students, parents and schools that helped make this year our biggest ever.
Practices are the first two weeks in April followed by 5 weeks of competition and the State Tournament.
Our program attracts students in grades six through twelve to participate in shooting
sports while creating a “virtual” competition among high schools throughout
Minnesota. Shooting practices and competition are conducted at a shooting range
near the school’s location. A true team scoring system is used in three
shooting performance categories – top score, top five scores and team average
score. The numbers of athletes on a team are used to define the conferences
they compete in. Scores are submitted and posted on the league’s website and
compared against other school’s performances to determine the earned points for
a team. The season ends with the State Tournament at Alexandria Shooting Park
in Alexandria, Minnesota on June 9-10, 2012 where individual and team champions
will be recognized.
The
Minnesota State High School Clay Target League's mission since 2008 is to
emphasize the positive influence shooting sports can have in an individual's
life. We do this by providing a safe, comfortable, positive environment that
enhances the participant's self-concept, character and personal growth through
safe, educational and socially acceptable involvement in the shooting sports.
This is accomplished while promoting the highest standards of safety,
sportsmanship, teamwork, and ethical behavior with the support of participating
shooting ranges and volunteer coaches.
The Minnesota State High
School Clay Target League is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization and an independent
provider of this extra curricular program to high schools.
